Irrfan Khan refuses Naseer's Masoom role !!

  How does a filmmaker improve on perfection? That’s the question facing filmmaker Bedobrata Pain (of Chittagong), who has been asked by produce Himesh Reshammiya to helm a new avatar of Shekhar Kapoor’s Masoom. According to sources, Reshammiya is sold on getting Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan to play the roles done in the original by Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi.

  

   However, one learns that the director’s original choice for Naseer’s role was Irrfan Khan and Vidya Balan in Shabana’s role. Says a source, “Like a lot of othe new-age filmmakers Bedo sees Irrfan as what Naseer used to b 25 years ago. He was keen to cast Irrfan in Naseer’s role. However, Irrfan very wisely refused to step into Naseer’s role. ‘No one can improve on what Naseerbhai did in the original Masoom,’ he told the director.” Likewise, Vidya who has idolised Shabana refused to be drawn into the Masoom remake. Says the source, “With both Irrfan an Vidya opting out, Bedo decided to re-work the script. He has no re-written the main parts . And the roles now suit Aishwarya an Abhishek to perfection.” Bedobrata Pain remained unavailable for comment.
